It’s no secret that the Primetime Emmy Awards are the biggest night of the year in television. For nearly 80 years, television’s biggest stars, directors, writers, and beyond have gathered annually to celebrate television’s most standout dramas, comedies and limited series of the past year.
At the 76th Primetime Emmys, Vancouver Film School alumni were more present than ever. This year, a total of 449 alumni were credited on Emmy-nominated series, with 186 of these credits on winning shows (an increase from the 398 alumni credits at the 2024 Emmys!). Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø ALUMNI CREDITS AT THE 2025 EMMYS
Across nearly every Vancouver Film School program – from Film Production to 3D Animation & Visual Effects, Foundation Visual Art & Design and even Game Design, our alumni worked on over 50 nominated/winning series at the 2025 Primetime Emmys. Two of our Makeup Design for Film & Television grads, Jessica Wong and Chelsea Matthews, were personally nominated for their work on The Last of Us for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 76TH PRIMETIME EMMYS
Full of milestone moments, the 2025 Primetime Emmys – held September 14 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles – were a night to remember. Tramell Tillman became the first black man to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series – for his portrayal of the equally charming/unnerving Milchick in AppleTV’s Severance – while Owen Cooper became the youngest Emmy-winner for his heart-wrenching performance in Netflix’s Adolescence. Jean Smart also picked up her fourth consecutive win for HBO’s Hacks, continuing her slow creep towards breaking a record currently held by Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep).
Seth Rogen’s The Studio became the most-decorated series of the evening (another huge hit for AppleTV!), taking home not only 13 Emmys but setting a new record for the most nominations for a freshman comedy series, at 23.
By the end of the evening, the big winners were announced; while HBO’s The Pitt took home the coveted trophy for Outstanding Drama Series, The Studio picked up Outstanding Comedy Series.
